1944:  Lucas lost everything—his family, his home, and his innocence when British bombers fire-bombed Dortmund. Desperate, he found a new home in Detmold, a gig playing his violin in the Detmold Theatre orchestra, and first love. Life was good until Hitler decided that fifteen-year-old Lucas must join the futile effort to save the Third Reich.
