About the Author
Robert Faulk was born on a farm and educated in a small rural school. He studied engineering and worked in construction before taking his wife and three children to Germany to pursue a career as an opera singer. Over the next ten years, the author met many people willing to share still-fresh memories of the Second World War, stories traumatic and deeply personal. Faulk blended these stories into a series of four books he calls The Songs of War that describes, from the victims’ perspective, a war that killed fifty million people—and over three times as many civilians as soldiers. The author’s first singing teacher is the heroine of A Song of Sorrow, the first book in the four-book series.
